Who We Are
Every day, homeless individuals in the Phoenix area wonder how they’ll get a job without personal identification. Thanks to the Chaplaincy for the Homeless, these individuals can obtain the help they need.
At its main office in the Lodestar Day Resource Center in downtown Phoenix, the Chaplaincy helps thousands of homeless people each year obtain lost documents, such as birth certificates and drivers’ licenses, so they can apply for jobs, obtain medical help, and find housing.
Those in need also receive hygiene kits, safe storage of important documents, and referrals to other homeless agencies in the Valley.
The Chaplaincy for the Homeless is open from 8 am to 3 pm, Monday through Thursday. The Chaplaincy assists with the foundational necessity of identification including state ID’s and driver’s licenses. The Chaplaincy also assists with the identifying documentation necessary to get state ID such as birth certificates. We also help legal immigrants/naturalized citizens replace lost, stolen, or expired immigration documentation. These documents are all vital to obtaining Arizona State Identification. During the course of our day we also provide our clients with counseling for both life and spiritual issues.
