Your client recently had an Arizona ID.
Since your client had an ID in Arizona before, they do not need any documents to prove their identity.
However, they must prove their driving ability, since they have never had a Drivers License in Arizona.
- If your client has a valid (not expired) Drivers License from any state, they can show this card as sufficient proof of driving ability.
- If your client does not have a valid Drivers License from any state (because it was lost, expired, or never obtained), your client will have to take a driving test, using an insured vehicle.
The cost of a first-time Arizona Drivers License varies by age. This can be paid in cash, check or money order.
- Ages 16-39: $25
- Ages 40-44: $20
- Ages 45-49: $15
- Age 50 and older: $10
The MVD will confirm that the client's personal identifying information (e.g. date of birth, social security number) matches the information in the MVD system. A temporary Drivers License will be issued in person; this is valid for 30 days. The permanent Drivers License will arrive in the mail within 7-10 business days.
